Dr. Amsalu Bizuneh - Experienced Hospitalist and Filmmaker

Amsalu Bizuneh

As clinical lead hospitalist at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center, Dr. Amsalu Bizuneh coordinates the care of admitted patients. He comes to his role with more than 14 years of experience, the majority of which has focused on internal medicine. Dr. Amsalu Bizuneh maintains affiliations with multiple hospitals, including Novant Health Huntersville Medical Center, Novant Health Matthews Medical Center, and McLeod Regional Medical Center-Pee Dee.

Dr. Amsalu Bizuneh received his MD from the Emory University School of Medicine, where he received a dean’s scholarship and became an American Federation for Aging Research Scholar. He went on to complete his internal medicine residency at the University of Illinois Medical Center, where he stood out as one of eight finalists for the position of chief resident.

A filmmaker as well, Dr. Bizuneh both wrote and produced the documentary Born to Run: A Tale of Endurance. Over the course of nine months in 15 states and two countries, he and his team followed a group of athletes preparing for the United States men’s Olympic marathon trials.
